We are an independent local charity that operates under the umbrella of Age UK.
Our purpose is to promote the
welfare of elderly people in and around the City and District of St Albans. We provide a number of services to the residents of the District:
we run a lunch club on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
we run a community hall for day centres enabling otherwise housebound elderly people to engage in a varied programme of social activities.
we provide subsidised chiropody services.
we run a minibus that provides transport to day centres and outings for the elderly or infirm.
We provide a friendly and relaxed environment at our lunch clubs, with a variety of activities including seated exercise, music, arts and crafts and interesting talks.
One of our ladies recently described the club as the "highlight of my week".
Our work depends almost entirely on time given by volunteers, and most of our funding comes from contributions made by St Albans residents.
